Assumptions
A process is more effective in bringing about change than a
single program.
- The LIFE process provides congregations with multiple exposures and
experiences in a variety of settings over the two year period to insure that
learnings and action-plans can have deeper and more lasting results.
Authentic evangelism and congregational growth is both personal and
corporate.
- Effective evangelism emerges from both radiant personal faith and vibrant,
inviting body life. Both dimensions of outreach need to be nurtured to
assure balanced and lasting growth.
Effective church growth takes place when outreach strategies permeate the
existing structure of the local church .
- LIFE does not create numerous new church structures but uses the existing
ones to instill the vision and carry forward the task of outreach. As the
Great Commandment and the Great Commission become the driving energy of a
congregation, evangelism is a natural outcome of its worship, nurture, and
pastoral care.
Genuine congregational growth is not simply "programmed." It
occurs as we seek God in prayer and study, then plan and move forward, informed
by the Holy Spirit.
- Lasting church growth grows out of a congregation's own unique life and
setting. Outreach begins with creative, often simple, concepts and ideas
that emerge from a study and planning process inspired by God's Spirit.
A congregation's plans for growth are enhanced by the availability of
recommended resources and study materials.
- Though local initiative is central, special resources can help increase
congregational effectiveness. LIFE offers a variety of materials to churches
to facilitate their growth strategy.
Accountability and encouragement nurtures congregational growth.
- Churches in LIFE are networked with a New Life Ministries congregational
advisor who is available by telephone to answer questions and to encourage
progress toward fulfilling the objectives of the process.
