Intergenerational Evening
Organize evenings when you bring together older,
middle-aged, and younger people to learn to know each other by playing games
together. New people especially need to be personally invited so the newer and
older members can become acquainted.
BEST SUITED FOR: Any Size Congregation
WHAT'S INVOLVED?
 | This may best be organized by asking 3 or 4 smaller
groups (cell groups or Sunday School classes) to do this, but keep the
number to no more than 40-50 altogether. |
 | Provide table games and group games that would appeal
to older and younger people and that would build team spirit instead of a
competitive spirit. |
DO'S AND DON'TS
 | DO......plan activities that will appeal to all. |
 | DO......personally invite newer people who might fall
in the age range of the people there, but who may have not as yet tied into
a Sunday School class or small group. |
 | DO......see this as opportunity to note the gifts and
interests of newer people with the possibility of getting them more involved
in other areas of church life. |
 | DON'T......overlook groups in your church, especially
the senior citizens, who might really enjoy this intergenerational
experience. |
RESOURCES NEEDED
 | A creative coordinator who can bring a mix of people
together for a recreational evening. |
 | Various table games and group games. |
COST
 | Minimal – only cost of refreshments. |
