bulletVisitors appreciate the pie and the visit.

bulletDO......call the visitor to arrange a time. Tell them you have a pie for them.
bulletDON'T......stay long. Thank them for coming to church and invite them to return and present them with the pie.

COST: Pie, paid for by the individuals doing the baking.

Or consider an alternative idea:

Delivering baked goods to guests is so widely practiced in some communities that unchurched folks may consider it a "church gimmick"!  If that is the case in your community, consider taking an alternative gift.

It is best if the gift is:

bulletRelatively inexpensive . . . but certainly not cheap or a "trinket"
bulletSomething that is representative of your congregation (as baked goods might be for some congregations)
bulletInformative, including your church logo, location, phone number, and web site address.
bulletSomething the person will find useful, thus enhancing its ability to regularly remind the person of your church - a water bottle, for example.

Or consider a "Welcome Wagon" Style Task Group
